I'm a certified Japanese language instructor based in Oita City with over 4,000 hours of teaching experience over the past 5 years.
My mission is to make learning fun and easy and bring smiles to students' faces with lots of success in the language.
My lessons are very beginner-friendly. I can tailor lessons to your goals whether you want to work in Japan, pass the JLPT, or study as a hobby. My lessons are laidback, and all materials are prepared by me, so we can focus more on speaking. I can also provide English support throughout your growth β so even if you're not confident in Japanese, you can join my classes with ease.

Nihongo Muscle has been a fantastic addition to the lessons. After each class, it uses the lesson transcript to create a personalised report showing what we covered, mistakes I made, areas I'm improving in and things I need to keep working on. I particularly like being able to see recurring mistakes over multiple lessons, because it makes it much easier to identify the areas I need to practise. I'd definitely recommend Yuya-sensei to anyone learning Japanese and Nihongo Muscle makes an already excellent lesson experience even better.

Yuya speaks mostly Japanese to me in lessons, which may sound intimidating to some beginners, but Yuya adapts his speech so you can understand him perfectly. You never feel panicked or rushed to respond as he creates a very safe space for you to practise and take your time. His patience is truly admirable! As a teacher myself, I see his passion and willingness to help his students. He's one of the best teachers
My lessons with Yuya have always been something to look forward to. Every lesson I learn new grammar, verbs and other useful vocabulary, especially during our free conversations during the lesson. Yuya is also very knowledgeable when it comes to Japanese culture and history. Heβs always able to provide answers to my questions about Japan, and about Japanese. We often talk freely during our lessons about our experiences and this gave me the confidence to speak to lots of people when I went to Japan as I felt prepared. I cannot recommend Yuya enough!
I started lessons with Yuya in January because I wanted to improve my Japanese speaking and the lessons with Yuya really help me with that. I'm more confident speaking Japanese. We practise conversations and also use the Genki books to learn many things like grammar and vocabulary. I'm having a lot of fun improving my Japanese. If you want to learn Japanese without ever getting bored, I recommend lessons with Yuya.
